Floors

When boy twin bought the house, there was wall to wall carpeting. Knowing the house was built in 1902, we ripped up said carpet with our fingers crossed. Hardwood! But it was all orange and beaten up (not to mention the area of plywood that needed to be filled in with please-bless-this-matches new flooring)

After lots of sanding and sweeping, sanding and sweeping, we stained our floors and put 3 coats of varnish down. This by far was the most tedious update we have done to date, but also the most worth it.

No pictures of the step by step exist, but here are some befores (sanded, not stained) and afters (ready to live on)

[pardon the fireplace covered in supplies, but also, marvel at its beauty]

[is the varnish dry yet so I can finally put a couch in here?]

[the hallway used to be green and yellow linoleum tiles (WHAT?!]
[beautifully matched, AND I can get into my bedroom (always a bonus)]

It should be known, most of the aforementioned work was done by Dad. (Thanks!) Laying wood floors that are 2'' wide takes a lot of patience. Good thing he raised 8 kids and knows a thing or two about it.
