Tight Squeeze

We've been painting in the house lately, getting ready for a historic homes tour that we were asked to participate in.

The laundry room/mud room needed something besides white all over, luckily, boy twin is agile (little) enough to fit behind the washer and dryer to paint hard-to-reach walls

Klappsta's home

At the twins house, there are 7 pets total. (!) Ok, 4 of those are chickens and live outside, but still..
Boy twin just got a dog (Rufus). Girl twin has 2 cats (Mona and The General). One of them hates Rufus (Mona), the other is his best friend (The General). Klappsta chair came to our house and quickly became The General's napping spot.
Rufus wants to play with The General, but sadly has not learned how to use his hind legs to jump, so he just barks at him from the floor.
We have plans to give Klappsta a cute side table and lamp, as well as an area rug and ottomon to create a nice little reading area in the living room. Right now, it's where our animals hang out.
[pictures from my phone... sorry]

Floors

When boy twin bought the house, there was wall to wall carpeting. Knowing the house was built in 1902, we ripped up said carpet with our fingers crossed. Hardwood! But it was all orange and beaten up (not to mention the area of plywood that needed to be filled in with please-bless-this-matches new flooring)

After lots of sanding and sweeping, sanding and sweeping, we stained our floors and put 3 coats of varnish down. This by far was the most tedious update we have done to date, but also the most worth it.

No pictures of the step by step exist, but here are some befores (sanded, not stained) and afters (ready to live on)

[pardon the fireplace covered in supplies, but also, marvel at its beauty]

[is the varnish dry yet so I can finally put a couch in here?]

[the hallway used to be green and yellow linoleum tiles (WHAT?!]
[beautifully matched, AND I can get into my bedroom (always a bonus)]

It should be known, most of the aforementioned work was done by Dad. (Thanks!) Laying wood floors that are 2'' wide takes a lot of patience. Good thing he raised 8 kids and knows a thing or two about it.

tal como son

If you don't have an ikea handy, I'm sorry. If you do, do you ALWAYS end your shopping spree in the "as-is" section? Us twins have found some great finds in this marvelous section, including this:
During our Ikea tour, we found this chair on display. The KLAPPSTA chair is covered in a very cute textured white fabric, which we were fans of, but wanted a slip cover option (because white + 3 pets = gross). Most of the covers were discontinued, so we thought, oh well.

We were leaving mostly empty handed, and found this chair in the as is section. But guess what? It had an awesome slip cover that just needed a good wash (the chair was a floor display, hence: as is). Boy twin snagged it at $89.00, instead of the $149 he would have paid. Thanks, as is!

Pictures of KLAPPSTA in her new home will be here shortly. She looks really great in the formal library next to some bookshelves.

Bijou Market

My jewelry will be for sale at the Bijou Market this year. I really love Bijou. They curate such a great show. Please come by and show your support and also buy things.

Twin Info

Boy twin and girl twin live together in a 100+ year old house in Utah that they work on constantly. (Boy twin owns the house, girl twin is happy to live there and help out). We may or may not use our parents as free labor.
